The appraisal district office does not send out tax bills or collect tax payments. Property tax bills are issued by, and tax payments are to be made out to, the Matagorda County Tax Assessor/Collector located at the County Tax Office (1700 7th St, Room 203, Bay City, TX 77414). Tax payments made out to the appraisal district will not be processed, but will be taken to the Tax Office so they can contact the taxpayer about voiding the incorrect check and issuing a corrected one.

Matagorda Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Matagorda County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).
